One of my earliest memories is of me, naked on a beach of the Ecuadorian Pacific Coast, trying to understand the size of the sea. I was trying to figure out what the horizon was. That was the first complex thought I can remember having, and I think I was two years old when I had it. Obviously, I couldn't find answers to my questions then, as I still find it difficult to rationally encompass the perceptive experience of the horizon. But what I do remember noticing that line of the horizon was somewhat similar to the line that separated the sea and the sand where I was standing. The sea and the sand were thus similar, just shooting in the different directions, and with different dimensions. I think this is the earliest precedent of my concern with volume, dimension and structure. |

Since I start to having dreams I remember the intensity of other dimensions, and the capacity of the abstract body to take the mind to other places. Some dreams in my childhood was so strong that I still finding difficult difference them in between the fantasy or the reality, for example I have a dream jumping from the second floor to the gardens of my building, I was so sure trying to convince my mom that I was capable to do it. I remember traveling around the country with my father, the nature was a big part of my artist journey; volcano’s, lakes, jungles and the Pacific Ocean; many magical experiences give me my first color palette, exuberant in live and rich in diversity. |
